I hope you all are surviving the heat wherever you reside!
It was over 93 degrees here in Tacoma, Washington this weekend!
It was not the sexy heat, either. You know, the kind where you get a nice glisten on your skin and you have beach hair without even trying?
Nope, not even close.
We are not cut out for that kind of weather here in the Evergreen State mother nature! Stop it!!!
Anyway, I have been craving all things lime recently and I decided to make this quick and easy sugar scrub to curb my cravings or I will eat a whole key lime pie all by myself!
Since the showers are short and cold this season, its nice to have something special waiting for you in the tub!
Let’s gather the supplies, shall we?
You will need:
1 Lime + Zest
1 1/2 Cup White Sugar
1/3 cup Coconut Oil (Melted)
1 tsp Lemon Extract -or- 3-4 Drops Lemon Essential Oil (I used extract)
Spoon or Spatula
One Drop Green Food Coloring (Optional)
Mason Jar or Plastic Container (I buy mine in bulk here)
Combine sugar plus the juice and zest of your lime. Next, slowly stir in melted coconut oil, (make sure it has cooled slightly). Mix all other ingredients into the container. If you don’t want any of the food coloring in it, that’s okay, it still looks pretty! The zest of the lime gives it a very slight green tint. I wanted to have a slightly brighter color, so I went for it, (living large over here!)
I put the mixture in the fridge for 15 min so it could firm up and let the coconut oil cool down. You can leave it in the shower with the lid secured for up to three weeks.
It smells wonderful!
I nicknamed it a ” Coconut Lime Sorbet,” because it does have that lovely lime color that all lime sorbets and sherbets have, and when it came out of the fridge, the consistency looked like it too!
So refreshing! So easy! Make it as a hostess gift for the next summer BBQ you are invited to!
Have fun with this one!
